In Conversation: Leiko Ikemura and Katy Hessel

International artist Leiko Ikemura joins curator and art historian Katy Hessel in conversation to celebrate Ikemura’s first UK exhibition, Usagi in Wonderland.

Leiko Ikemura is a Japanese-Swiss artist who works across painting, sculpture, drawing, photography and poetry. Her exhibition at the Sainsbury Centre brings together over 50 works spanning three decades of Ikemura’s career, from early paintings, drawings and sculptures through to her most recent never-seen-before cast glass figures.

Katy Hessel is the founder of The Great Women Artists Instagram and podcast, for which she has interviewed artists such as Tacita Dean, Lubaina Himid, and Celia Paul and writers, curators and thinkers such as Griselda Pollock, Olivia Laing and Hans Ulrich Obrist on women artists from across art history.
