Can the Seas Survive Us?
How can we discuss the urgent issues facing our oceans without becoming overwhelmed? How can we connect with others and move into a space of active hope? What can we do to really make a difference?
To address these questions, we’ve created a Space for Dialogue to run alongside our current season: Can the Seas Survive Us? This combines a circular seating area for up to thirty participants with a creative maker space. The aim is to provide a compassionate space where we can talk, make and plan together.
The space is open to all visitors to come together for informal conversations, or to explore the season’s themes through drawing, creative writing and imaginative mapping. You’ll find a range of prompt cards to get you started.
COMING SOON
Our programme of facilitated dialogues will kick off in April. Dates and booking links will be posted here, and you will also be able to find them on our Events pages.
We are currently working with artist Paul Patrick Fenner to create a series of video tutorials that you’ll be able to access in the Maker Space, offering brilliant ideas to try at the drawing tables.
COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS
In the coming months, we’ll also be working with artists, students, community activists, academics, and third-sector organisations to co-develop and test innovative, art-based approaches to climate dialogue at the Sainsbury Centre. We’ll be updating this page with information about all the projects, so do follow our progress here. If you are interested in collaborating yourself, or using the space for your own eco-engaged class or group, please contact: sainsburycentrelearning@uea.ac.uk
The Space for Dialogue is part of a six-month season of interlinked exhibitions and events that explore the question Can the Seas Survive Us?
