Assistance and Emotional Support Dog Policy

Assistance and Emotional Support Dog Policy

The Sainsbury Centre welcomes guide, assistance, and support dogs in all areas of the museum, provided they are clearly identified as such, are always kept on a lead, and are supervised and kept under your control throughout your visit.

We wish to maintain an environment where everyone feels secure and comfortable. Furthermore, to safeguard our objects and collections we ask that your animals are always supervised and kept with you.

We reserve the right to deny entry to your dog if it does not appear to have been appropriately trained or is not appropriately supervised. We ask that assistance and support dogs are identified by wearing a jacket, a harness, or a brightly coloured collar and lead during your visit.  Where possible, dog owners should bring their Assistance Dogs UK (ADUK), Assistance Dogs International (ADI) or the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF) identification book but this is not a requirement for entry.

We recognise emotional support dogs as being a companion without whose support a visitor would not otherwise be able to attend and participate.

Any animal that poses a risk to our team, visitors, collection, or the building is not permitted. If you have any questions about this policy, or would like further support in planning your visit, please contact the visitor experience team via scva@uea.ac.uk or by phone 01603 593199.
