Dr. Ed Krčma will give students an introduction to the history of the genre of portraiture. We will explore some of the associated issues, such as: the question of likeness; power dynamics; and the politics of identity.

In this lecture Dr. Jack Hartnell presents the Sainsbury Centre building itself as an artwork that we can critique, and invites us to consider architecture in relation to the human body.
Dr. Jack Hartnell explores ceramic works in the collection, ranging from ancient Mesoamerican objects to sculpture by modern European artists.
Together with Dr. Dan Rycroft we will consider what defines ‘world art’, and then aim to use these definitions in an exploration of the Sainsbury Centre.
