Figurine
Life Story
This statuette is covered, except on the face, with thick, crackly red slip. The fully rounded shape (with legs fused to the body) is unusual for Valdivia, and this figurine does not belong to any of the standard subtypes. The shallow depression at the top of the head may have been used to hold narcotic snuff. (Lathrap et al., 1975: 45-8)
