Jūichimen Kannon, the Bodhisattva of Compassion with Eleven Heads
Life Story
This thin bronze circular disc shows seated in Buddha in the centre in raised relief, with two Kumano vases on each side. The figure is seated with the hands clasped in a praying gesture. Incised patterning on the torso suggests robes and a headdress/crown feature surmounts the head showing a topknot. The base the figure sits upon is reminiscent of a lotus flower petal decoration. The figure shows some discolouration but the bronze still shows evidence of a high sheen in places. The disc shows a raised lip, but most is broken off, other than small amount at the base. The disc itself is completely discoloured green.
