Figurine
Life Story
This hollow figure (dogū) of the Kamegaoka type lacks only the legs, which are likely to have resembled those on object 974. The head has large ‘goggle-eyes’ and a circular ‘crown’. The grooved curving designs on the back are particularly deep and clear. The figure has been reassembled from five major fragments and has a fitted wooden box with a label inscribed ‘Jōmon dogū, Nishi Tsu site, Aomori Prefecture’, which probably refers to Nishi-tsugaru county, the location of Kamegaoka site.
