Head of Bodhisattva Kannon
Life Story
This bronze head has been broken away from the body. The oval face shows raised eyes with arching eyebrows and aquiline nose with small closed lips. The headdress or crown is highly detailed and elaborate, with what appears to be a bun surmounting the head. Large, long ears sit well back with extended hanging lobes. The head is green in colour, where the bronze has discoloured and some encrustation is evident on the crown area and ears.
